Rapid Weight Loss

If you are a new mother having just delivered your baby, your thoughts have probably turned to losing weight as quickly as you can and getting back to your original weight. That's all well and good, but make sure you do that in the most healthy way possible; by following an eating plan prepared by your doctor that includes exercises to promote a gradual weight loss

. Having just had a baby, your body is still recovering from the throes of pregnancy and subjecting it to a rapid weight loss plan is not a smart idea. Just doing so can promote health problems that can land you in the hospital if you are not careful, and with a new baby at home, that is the last place you want to end up.

When you follow a plan devised by your doctor, he can not only include foods that you like or leave out those you don't; but he also can include an exercise program that works hand in hand with the eating plan to keep your weight gain under control while you are pregnant. Then when you deliver, the plan can be updated to use more vigorous exercises and a lower caloric focus so you can lose weight in a sensible manner.

Of course, we've all been subjected to the stories about the celebrities that lose gobs of weight in a very short time after they deliver their babies, but don't forget, they have a purpose for doing that. They're depending on the look of their bodies and their weight as their meal tickets, and the sooner they are back in shape, the sooner they are back to work. But....and this is a big one....they have the help of an army of people; nutritionists, cooks, dieticians, personal trainers...all hired at a large outlay of money to get the celebrity back in shape.

If you have those kinds of resources, then you could attempt to take on a rapid weight loss plan also; but don't try to go it alone. Your post partum system is not ready yet to handle some of the strain that this type of plan will put on it and you will only end up harming yourself.

And what good will that do you in the long run to try to lose weight like this and lose your stamina and your health. You could be subject to fainting spells from lack of nutrition or amount of food intake, and not have the strength you used to. And where does that leave you when you have to take care of a newborn baby. You will be responsible for carrying the baby and everything else involved with the total care of another human being, and if you are not up to snuff from abusing your system with a radical diet, then you are an accident waiting to happen.

So what matters more to you at this point in time; losing weight rapidly and jeopardizing your health and the wellbeing of your infant; or being sensible and losing weight with a gradual weight loss plan. Hopefully, the answer is obvious.

Another factor to give thought to would be that you may have underlying medical problems that a rapid weight loss plan could aggravate Make sure that before you embark on any eating plan or diet, you work with your doctor to ensure that the plan you choose is a gradual plan and a sensible one That way you will be able to regain your strength as well as your physical fitness over an extended period of time and be able to take care of yourself and your new baby.
